International Freight for Heavy Industry
Freightplus offers its deep sympathy for everyone along the East Coast of America and Caribbean that has been affected by Hurricane Irma. We hope those displaced can return home safely and wish for a speedy recovery to the impacted communities.
The Caribbean endured the brunt of the storm last week as it hit the area as a Category 5 hurricane. It then made its way to Florida on Sunday weakening to a Category 4 hurricane, before decreasing in intensity as it moved in a westward direction. In preparation, port facilities and offices were closed as per mandatory evacuations and port closures, and vessels sought safe waters to wait out the storm. All carriers are awaiting access to the ports and facilities to survey and inspect cargo. In the meantime, they will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as soon as the information becomes available, which we will then pass onto our customers.
The latest known information for ports is these areas are:

We will also be keeping a close eye on hurricane Jose, which is currently a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean. There are currently several forecasted paths that Jose could take however, even if the storm does not make land fall there are still concerns for the East Coast due to swells caused by the storm. We will continue to monitor the situation and will let you know of any updated once they are available.
